Stoneware, raised-relief hand painted decoration. The main subject is a cuckoo clock in raised-relief style, the symbol of this region of Germany. The word “Schwarzwald” meaning Black Forest appears at the base. A couple in typical Black Forest attire is seen on either side of the clock. The handle is in the shape of an old world clock peddler with a variety of his clocks for sale on a specially designed backpack. On top of the ornamental pewter lid is a pewter cuckoo clock.
